TANZANIA remains the last true destination in the traditional sense. It is the destination of choice for big game hunting in Africa. With the work of tens years experience bearing fruit, Grand Safari now offer with confidence a chance to hunt all of the species endemic to Tanzania. In 2006 / 07, Grand Safari will conduct safaris in three blocks in Masailand, two in the Selous Management area and three in the West. Herewith more details of the main areas:
BURUNGE / Galapo WMANext to Tarangire National Park with 2 good camps. Super buffalo (when there is water in the pools), exceptional impala, white bearded wildebeest, zebra, dik-dik and Klipspringer. OK Tommy, Grant, and Bohor reedbuck. Some oryx, eland, Coke hartebeest (kongoni), bushbuck and leopard. Lion difficult but excellent if hunted properly.TALAMAI Open areaA vast dry Masailand block. Few roads and typical Masai Steppe low antelope densities. Excellent leopard, all over 7 foot, gerenuk, lesser kudu, greater kudu abundant but require hard hunting. Steinbok, impala, oryx, eland, Coke hartebeest, Grant gazelle and duiker are there but require luck and hard hunting.SELOUS K3Probably the best all round block in the Selous Game Reserve. Two main rivers. Two new camps, one on the Kilombero River and one on the Luwegu River. Excellent Liechtenstein hartebeest, Nyasa wildebeest, bushbuck, southern impala, hippo, crocodile, buffalo, bushpig, warthog, East African bush duiker, suni, red and blue duikers. The fishing is truly exceptional and the rivers delightful.MBARANGANDU WMAProbably the finest elephant and buffalo hunting left in Africa today. ALL ON FOOT !!! Good lion, leopard, excellent buffalo, zebra, elephant, some hartebeest, reedbuck (common), bushbuck, sable, eland and klipspringer. Bushpig, warthog, suni, red duiker and blue duiker also available. Law : Your completed hunting contract with Grand Safari will supply all the needed information to apply for the importation of your firearm in Tanzania, as well as for issuing your hunting permit. A representative of Grand Safari will assist you through customs at Dar es Salaam airport on your arrival. The hunting season is from the 1st of July to the 31st of December. Peak time is probably, depending on rainfall and migration of the game, from the 1st of September to the end of November.
